Brain Power "Bal-A-Vis-X"
These
activities are held primarily in our classroom and utilize balance boards, physio balls, mini-trampolines, I Gallop horse
simulator along with bean bags and raquet balls.
These activities involve balance, eye tracking, focus, and rhythm to help calm a person, help with coordination, attention span and motor skills to name just a
few. I have found that all students enjoy these activities because they are just plain fun! These classes are generally a 1/2 hr in duration and can be a private
session or up to 4 people.
Activities with the animals
This can be grooming the horses, taking them for a walk, bathing them,
using them as your painting canvas, helping with injuries or feeding and care. We also sit or stand in the pastures watching the horses interact and build obstacles
courses in the arena to lead the horses through. The possible activities are endless. Students find it peaceful here
at the farm and enjoy helping to care for the horses and physically move around where they might not at home.
Therapeutic
Riding
Therapeutic
riding is an activity that is beneficial physically because of the horses 3 dimensional gait as well as you have to re-balance
with each step the horse takes so your trunk gets a terrific workout. It can also boost ones emotional and mental state
being in control of a very large animal and they are looking down at everyone instead of people looking "down" on
them. There are too many benefits to mention. Please
feel free to ask specific questions.
Therapeutic Riding and Brain Power
We can combine these two activities and receive
maximum benefits while at the farm. We start with 10 to 15 minutes of Brain Power to "warm
up" our brains and bodies then have a riding session.
Traditional
Horsemanship Lessons
We
offer lessons for those intersted in learning all about horses as well as riding. Our students delve into all aspects
of caring for a horse including first aid, signs of illness, and daily care. We feel that ground work is just as important
as riding and in order to become an effective rider you need to know all about your horse from the ground up. When appropriate
students are taught to catch and halter their mount, lunge and lead a horse safely. In the saddle students are taught
to utilize their whole bodies to steer and control the speeds of their horse. They are taught to read a horses body
language to help with their riding and precision of exercises.
We utilize the indoor arena, the outside track and the trail for our lessons. We offer both English and Western so
that students can try their hand at each and decide for htemselves what they would like to learn.
Counseling Services
are offered by Sara Treat,
LCPC in our classroom as well as with our equine partners. Sara is also available for consulting and working with your
child in their sessions with instructors. We combine our services to offer various team building workshops, parent and
child classes and more.
Fees
are dependant on the needs and time required.
